In plain terms

You're not paying for a report. You're paying for judgement.

Most technical consulting fails in one of two ways: a generic framework report that ignores your reality, or advice so hedged it commits to nothing. We do the opposite — we take a position. If we believe your platform choice is wrong, we say so in the first meeting, with reasoning.

Our advice is grounded in building, not slideware. Eighteen years of shipping websites, applications, commerce and rescue projects means we have lived the consequences of every recommendation we make — and we bring the trade-offs, costs and failure modes into the open.

Engagements end with something usable: a costed decision document, a reference architecture, a due-diligence verdict or a roadmap your board can approve. And if you want us to stay and implement it, we can — but the advice stands on its own.

  1. 01

Opinions with reasoning, not hedged options

  2. 02

Grounded in 18+ years of real delivery

  3. 03

Costs, risks and trade-offs stated in numbers

  4. 04

Output sized for decisions, not for shelves

What we deliver

Advice shaped for the decision at hand.

Four formats cover most needs — each scoped tightly, each ending in something you can act on.

01

Architecture reviews

A structured review of your system's design, scalability and weak points — with a prioritised fix list.

02

Platform & build-vs-buy decisions

A costed comparison of the realistic options, ending in a recommendation we're willing to defend.

03

Technical due diligence

For investors and acquirers: an honest read of a product's code, team and technical risk before money moves.

04

Modernisation roadmaps

A staged, budgeted plan for getting from where the platform is to where the business needs it.

05

Security & risk assessments

A practical review of exposure, prioritised by likelihood and impact — not a 200-page compliance recital.

06

Ongoing advisory

A monthly retainer that puts a senior engineer in your corner for the decisions that keep arriving.

How we work

Listen, investigate, take a position.

Short engagements, sharp questions, useful endings.

  1. Frame the decision

We start by agreeing exactly what decision this engagement must inform — and by when.

  2. Investigate

Code, infrastructure, contracts and metrics reviewed directly, plus the conversations that give them context.

  3. Take a position

Findings delivered as a recommendation with costs, risks and what we'd do in your place — in plain language.

  4. Support the follow-through

Workshops with your team to land the decision — and optional hands-on help to implement it.

Before you start

Two things that make advice worth paying for.

01 · Brief

Name the decision, not the topic

'Advise us on technology' produces essays; 'should we rebuild or modernise before our funding round' produces decisions. The sharpest engagements start with a named choice, a deadline and the person who will own the outcome — bring those three and the work becomes focused fast.

  • State the decision the advice must serve
  • Name the deadline it must fit inside
  • Identify who signs off the outcome
  • Share the constraints you cannot change
02 · Honesty

Hire advisors who can say 'don't'

The most valuable sentence in consulting is 'don't do this'. An advisor who only ever validates the plan you arrived with is expensive theatre. Our positioning is simple: we will tell you what we'd do in your place, including advising against work we could sell you.

  • Ask every advisor what they'd advise against
  • Beware recommendations that only favour their stack
  • Insist on costs and trade-offs, not benefits alone
  • Check the advice against your context, not case studies
FAQ

Questions clients usually ask.

Ask something else
01We just need a second opinion — is that too small?

Not at all. Single-decision reviews are among our most useful engagements: one system, one week, one clear recommendation.

02Do you sell the implementation afterwards?

Only if you want it. Advice engagements stand entirely on their own, and our recommendations hold up whether or not we're the ones who build.

03Can you work under NDA?

Yes — due diligence and advisory work routinely starts under mutual NDA, with findings shared only with the people you name.

04What does the output look like?

A decision document: findings, options with costs and risks, a clear recommendation and the reasoning behind it — written to be read, not filed.
